This is a complete list in alphabetical order of cricketers who have played for Nottinghamshire in major matches since the club was formally constituted in 1841. The Nottinghamshire teams formed by earlier organisations, essentially the old Nottingham Cricket Club, had major cricket status and so the county club is rated accordingly since its inception: i.e., classified as an ''unofficial'' first-class team by substantial sources from 1841 to 1894; classified as an ''official'' first-class team from 1895 by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and the County Championship clubs;〔Birley, p. 145.〕 and classified as a List A team since the beginning of limited overs cricket in 1963.〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=CricketArchive )〕 The details are the player's usual name followed by the years in which he was active as a Nottinghamshire player and then his name is given as it appears on match scorecards (i.e., usually his surname preceded by all initials). Note that many players represented other major teams besides Nottinghamshire. Fifteen played for the Nottingham town club and other Nottinghamshire teams before 1841 and went on to play in major matches for the new county club from 1841.
